(what i'm saying is several games have both the chip chart and the images to calibrate) ive seen several games use them but obviously prefer the 'move the gamma until such n such image is barely visible' because this allows more 'opinion' into the calibration for the consumer. Some opinions aren't opinions at all no matter how much you want to believe they are. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but the chip charts exist for a reason that aren't based from opinions and this includes their use. Now if you've read this far and are thinking, blah blah blah, this guy doesn't know ♥♥♥♥. The thing is the game's default gamma setting, the chip chart already has the chips clearly separated, but the blacks are obviously too washed out to be considered black or to be considered the correct gamma. when you keep moving the slider in the correct direction, the patches separate once again and this is when you know you've hit the correct gamma. when you're coming close to the correct gamma (not based on opinion) some of the chips start to blend together as in there's no clear separation between the 2 patches when there should be. Tbh this is the first game ive used that successfully utilizes the gray chip chart to calibrate the gamma.
